In the golden autumn season, the banks of the Pearl River once again gather countless merchants. From October 15 to November 4, the 138th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) will be held in Guangzhou in three phases. This session of the Canton Fair covers an exhibition area of 1.55 million square meters, with a total of 74,600 booths and more than 32,000 participating companies, about 3,600 of which are making their debut, showcasing new vitality and a fresh outlook.
The Canton Fair promotes mutual benefits worldwide and fosters win-win cooperation for all. Since its founding in the spring of 1957, the Canton Fair has been held consecutively for 138 sessions, without interruption, continuously recording the progress of China’s foreign trade. It vividly demonstrates the brilliant achievements China has achieved through adherence to opening-up policies and powerfully proves that “the more open, the more developed; the more developed, the more open.” At present, the world is experiencing accelerated changes not seen in a century, with increasing uncertainties and instabilities in global economic and trade development. Especially this year, the U.S. has initiated a “tariff war,” seriously impacting the multilateral trade system. Against this backdrop, the Canton Fair has taken place as scheduled twice, fully demonstrating China’s determination to open its doors to the world and share the feast of its economic development with the globe, injecting more certainty and stability into Chinese foreign trade as well as global commerce. In the first eight months of this year, China’s total import and export of goods reached 29.6 trillion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%, with exports performing remarkably and maintaining positive growth for six consecutive months, showcasing the strong resilience and vitality of China’s foreign trade.
“Chinese companies are reliable, and products are of high quality.” As expressed by El Corte Inglés, one of the world’s top 250 retailers in Spain, and UAE’s leading company Hotpack, the Canton Fair is a platform that global merchants cannot afford to miss. Here, new products, new technologies, and new business formats continue to be showcased, offering limitless business opportunities for enterprises. This session of the Canton Fair features over 10,000 high-quality companies for the first time with titles such as high-tech, specialized and innovative, and individual champions, accounting for 34% of the total number of export exhibitors. The fair will exhibit 353,000 smart products; in addition to continuing the service robot area, a smart medical area will be established for the first time, attracting 47 companies showcasing surgical robots, intelligent monitoring, and wearable devices, further highlighting advanced products and technologies in China’s medical sector. With over 600 new product launches and 13 themed forums, enterprises are assisted in building brands and grasping industry development directions... Creativity abounds with “new products,” “trendy items,” and “popular items,” full of energy toward innovation, intelligence, and sustainability. The Canton Fair promotes China-made high-quality goods and services to the world, while also introducing global quality products and services to China, aimed at meeting the aspirations of both domestic and international consumers for a better life.
The Canton Fair is a globally renowned international trade event, and hosting it well carries significant responsibility and a glorious mission. All regions and relevant departments in the province should make full use of this large platform and valuable local resource, sparing no effort to help enterprises seize orders, conduct precise business promotion, and focus on introducing cutting-edge technologies, innovative achievements, and high-quality projects. Every effort should be made to elevate this session of the Canton Fair to a new level, with new characteristics, and tangible outcomes, further attracting crowds, boosting consumption, promoting production, and better empowering high-quality economic and social development.
